But an unverified entry carries no link to your website, and the enquiry button on your own page routes to the National Roofing Desk instead of to you. Membership turns the entry into a page that works for you: the link, the enquiries, your documents in the library, and \u2014 for one company per category \u2014 the sponsor seat.

What paid placement does not buy
It does not move you inside the editorial lists, and it never removes anybody else from them. Those lists are ours, they stay alphabetical, and a company that pays us nothing sits exactly where it always sat. Paid placement is an additional band above them that says, in the band itself, that it is paid for.
It also does not buy search authority. Links from paying members carry rel="sponsored", because that is what an honest paid link is required to carry. Anyone selling you a followed link from a directory is selling you a penalty.

Three placements are sold on their own, to members and non-members alike. Each is labelled as sponsored on the page, sits in addition to the editorial content rather than inside it, and is exclusive: one sponsor per state, per document, per article. Storm Center state sponsor

“Presented by” on a state’s live storm-alert page, with your logo, a line about you, your profile and your website. The alerts are the National Weather Service’s and stay exactly as issued. Five states are included in Platinum.

What verified means on this side
A person checks the entry — that the company is trading, that the website is the company’s own, and that the categories it sits in match what the company actually leads with. Verification is carried out by a person and is not granted by payment; paying starts the check, it does not pass it.
Editorial placement is not for sale and never becomes for sale. Which category you appear under is our call, based on what your own site leads with — membership does not move you into a category you do not belong in, and it does not remove a competitor from one.
